A five-member team led by Mr. Willie Cornelis, Mayor of Gouda City in the Netherlands is on a five-day visit to the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) District in the Central Region to promote exchange programmes between the two areas.

While in the country, the team would share knowledge and experience on local government with the District Assembly and promote mutual understanding and cooperation for mutual benefit.

Briefing the delegation at a meeting with Assembly Members and Heads of Departments at Elmina, the Presiding Member of the KEEA District Assembly, Mr. Frank Appiah, called for a strong bond of friendship between the partners. He said the district had untapped tourism attractions and appealed to the team to sell the potential to individuals and organisations in the Netherlands to attract investment.

Mr. Cornelis said even though KEEA was bigger than Gouda in size they could learn from each other through exchange programmes and visits for their mutual benefit. He expressed the hope that the visit would be rewarding since it would enable them to identify and solve problems together.

Nana Ato Arthur, District Chief Executive, said a draft memorandum of understanding between the two cities would be discussed and signed on Monday, May 19.

The team had earlier called on the Omanhene of the Edina Traditional Area, Nana Kwodwo Condua VI, who appealed to the delegation from Gouda for assistance in the health and education sectors.
