Meanwhile the Western Regional House of Chiefs has added its voice for the urgent approval of the 3 billion US dollar loan facility from China Development Bank to undertake various developmental projects in the country.
At a press conference held in Accra today, the President of Western Regional House of Chiefs Awulae Attibrukusu II said, the chiefs are much concerned about $1.8billion of the loan to be invested in the Western region which includes the Western corridor gas infrastructure project, Western corridor railway lines modernization project and the Sekondi free zones project which will bring in investors to create job avenues for the people in the region.
He said although the chiefs in the region requested for 10% share of the oil revenue however, what the region stands to benefits from the projects, far outweighs what they requested during the debate of the Petroleum Revenue bill.
Awulae Attibrukusu said the loan facility when approved will transform the region which lacks developmental projects and therefore appealed to Parliamentarians especially those from the region not to politicize the loan facility.
Omanhene of Mopohor Traditional Area Nana Kwaku Entsei told Asempa News in an interview that the chiefs are impressed about government initiatives to develop the region.
He said government has proved to them that they deserve more than 10% share from the oil revenue.
