The founder of Word Miracle Church Bishop Charles Agyin Asare has condemned Bishop Daniel Obinim for putting up what he called unruly behavior, inconsistent with the pastoral profession he professes.

Bishop Daniel Obinim, who is the head pastor of the International God's Way Ministry was Monday arrested by the police for allegedly damaging property and attacking a presenter and panelists at Accra-based Hot FM for discussing his extramarital affairs with his former assistant pastor's wife.

Bishop Obinim is currently on bail after appearing in court on charges of conspiracy, causing unlawful harm, and causing unlawful damage on Tuesday.

Bishop Agyin Asare told Joy News that Pastor Obinim should bow his head in shame for denigrating the profession with his “unbecoming” disgraceful public conduct.

“Instead of him going round the radio stations or trying to be talking on radio, he should have sought a place to pray and bow down his head in shame, because his behaviour is a behaviour unbecoming of a man of God.”

He said Obinim's consistent threats and calls for a contest where he promises to command lighting and thunder to strike to demonstrate to people that he was a man of God was rather unfortunate.

“The fact of the Bible is that miracles don't show that somebody is living according to the tenants of Christ. The name of Jesus is so magnified that, even when somebody is not a Christian, and he is in danger and calls on the name [Jesus], Jesus will respond.”

Bishop Agyin Asare further remarked: “But Jesus said in the last days when he comes he will tell some people that get away from me, you workers of iniquity, I never knew you; and they will be claiming we did miracles in your name. So doing miracles in the name of Christ doesn't mean that you are living a holy life. Jesus also said that by their fruits, you will know them.”

According to Bishop Agyin Asare, he was approached by Bishop Obinim some time ago to mentor him, but he (Bishop Asare) severed the relationship two years ago because Obinim's character did not conform to Christian practices.

The Head of the Word Miracle Church maintained: “Christian ministry is not about the gifts of the spirit but fruits of the spirit - it is about character. And if your character has flaws then you can't do Christian ministry.”

Meanwhile, Bishop Obinim has insisted that he did nothing wrong.

Speaking to Peace FM, he cautioned the public to be careful how they criticize him because he still carries God's anointing.
