THE FLAWS OF THE MOBILE PORTABILITY SYSTEM
The ministry of information should indeed be given a pat on the shoulder for first of forcing network operators to register its costumers, this I believe will cut down the rate at which people get duped via mobile telecommunication. Another positive initiative worthy of commendation is the mobile portability which has been introduced to enable customers to switch from one network to another without really forfeiting the current SIM. Tough this will be a major relieve for costumers because I think it will in a way, help customers who suffer one way or other from the poor deliverance of service from operators to switch to another which can do better. I wish to use this media however, to call the attention of the minister to some of the flaws of this initiative.
First of all, it will inconvenient customers if they have to move from their home to do the switching (porting). Also Since the donor network (current network customer is using) has the right to reject request to port (switch networks), it will give them the power to cancel a lot of the porting requested simply because no service provider will like to lose a customer to a rival company.
On that note, the ministry of information chaired by the honorable Haruna Idirisu should check on the national communication authority to enact a mechanism make sure the exercise of mobile portability does not become a headache to society .
