Cape Coast, June 29, GNA - Gabriel Bekoe, a 60-year-old man from Abura Edumfa has been sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment for defiling a 12-year-old pupil by a Circuit Court in Cape Coast.
He pleaded guilty and appealed to the court to have mercy on him.
The judge described the act as “unforgiveable” and that he would have given the convict a stiffer sentence but for his age that he took into consideration.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Samuel Oduro-Kwarteng told the court that the victim lives with her mother in the same vicinity as the convict.
On May 19 Gabriel sent the victim to buy him biscuits and on her return, the convict lured her into his room, locked the door and defiled her.
He said the victim's mother saw her coming out of the convict's room and when she questioned her she narrated her ordeal to her mother.
Her mother reported the incident to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit and the convict was arrested.
