NYEP engages 5,000 PWD's
More than 5,000 Persons with Disabilities (PWD) have been engaged by the National Youth Employment Programme.
These beneficiaries have been spread across the various modules under the programme.
The Coordinator of the Persons with Disabilities Department of the Programme Joseph Adongo disclosed to Asempa News that the rationale is to create job avenues for the PWD's to enable them earn a living in the society.
Mr. Adongo said the 5000 PWD beneficiaries were recruited from various districts across the country.
Mr. Adongo said beneficiaries include the visually impaired, hearing impaired and other physically challenged persons.
He disclosed that the beneficiaries are performing tasks such as Teaching Assistants, Health Assistants, Media and Broadcasting at GBC and other governmental agencies.
Mr. Adongo however complained about the bad manner in which some of the agencies treat the beneficiaries.
He lamented over the refusal by some agencies to work with PWD's posted to their organizations while others also deny the beneficiaries the needed logistics to enable them work effectively.
