Hypocrisy Of The West!

NOT TOO long ago, the world was greeted by the news of the death of the most wanted man on earth, Osama Bin Laden. A visibly elated Barack Obama broke the news which triggered spontaneous jubilation across the length and breadth of the globe. When I later sat under the biggest coconut tree in Kubease and pondered over Bin Laden's death, I could not help wondering if his killers were not as guilty or even guiltier of the crimes they accused him of.

They accused Bin Laden of terrorism. They say he was responsible for the US-Embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania. They also blamed him for the twin towers attack in New York. Indeed, every act of terror by any group anywhere in the world was blamed on Bin Laden and his al-Qaeda.

Granted Bin Laden and al-Qaeda were the real perpetrators of those heinous crimes, I still see them as saints because the terror they unleashed on humanity is nothing compared to America's terrorism record. You can mention the support for African dictators and others across the world, the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings, the Vietnam War, the so-called War on Terror in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the on-going bombardments in Brother Muammar Gadaffi's Libya.

In Hiroshima and Nagasaki alone, the US dropped the first atomic bomb in human history to kill an estimated 230,000 Japanese in 3 days. The US justified the killing of innocent souls because she was a superpower. If that was not terrorism, then Barack Obama is Chinese.

In 1992, the US, under the Operation Desert Storm, attacked Iraq when the latter invaded Kuwait. The Americans were disappointed when the Iraqis retreated sooner than expected. The US was therefore compelled to halt the attack. She was disappointed because she could not accomplish her hidden agenda of overthrowing Saddam Hussein.

After waiting in vain for an opportunity to avail itself, the US concocted stories of Saddam stockpiling Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs). So in 2003, the US, backed by Britain, attacked Iraq and succeeded in turning historical monuments into rubble. The wanton destruction of historical cities and the killing of innocent people were nothing but war crimes. Fallujah, which was known as the City of Mosques, became 'City of Rubble'. WMDs were not found, but Cowboy Bush was very satisfied; He had succeeded in sending Saddam to Samanfoland. That alone was enough to satisfy his blood-thirsty soul.

Thousands of innocent Iraqis lost their lives, while others suffered abuses as a result of that unnecessary war. The Al-Bawaba newspaper in Iraq reported that a 55-year-old Iraqi man was abducted by US soldiers after a search in his house; not a pin was found.

After months of search, his family finally found him brain dead, in a Tikrit hospital. After performing diagnostic tests, doctors detected that the man had suffered massive head trauma, electrocution, and beatings on other parts of the body. As a result, doctors told the family their treasured relative would be in coma for life.

Apparently, it was the American 'liberators' who dumped him at the hospital with the excuse that he had had a heart attack. There are thousand and one of such cases in Iraq.

Abusuapanin, if Iraq was manufacturing nuclear weapons, so what? If either the presence of, or the intent to acquire nuclear weapons were sufficient grounds for invading and occupying a country, why then hasn't the US invaded Pakistan or India, when both countries have not hidden the fact that they have nuclear weapons?

The answer is very simple. Neither Pakistan nor India has anything worth stealing but Iraq has. Also, had Iraq developed nuclear weapons, she would have become a threat to Israel and its belief that it can do as it wishes in the Middle East (with support from the US).

After killing Saddam and singing hallelujah in Fallujah, we all wondered which country was next. We now have the answer, don't we?

After getting the UN to impose a No Fly Zone in Libya through resolution 1973, NATO forces have abused their mandate and are now trying to drain life out of the Libyan leader. Tripoli and Benghazi, which were the envy of many a nation, have now been reduced to rubble. They are killing the very innocent people they claim to protect.

Last Tuesday, June 7, 2011 marked the 69th birthday of Brother Gadaffi. That very day, waves of bombs, which experts say was the heaviest by NATO forces in Libya, bombarded Gadaffi's compound. Their motive was very obvious: To kill Gadaffi on his birthday.

Would the so-called al-Qaeda terrorists, therefore, not be justified in targeting American installations in and out of America? Would al-Qaeda not be justified in targeting Obama and his compatriots for extinction from the human race?

I do not support al-Qaeda and its affiliates, but I understand them perfectly. They are engaged in an unconventional warfare, so they are compelled to employ unconventional methods. Having civilian casualties is unfortunate. But like any war, collateral damage cannot be avoided.

I liken the West-al-Qaeda warfare to a scenario during my primary school days. There was this big boy who used the least opportunity to bully us. Unable to stand him in a conventional fight, we resorted to unconventional means to fight him back. We resorted to hitting him with stones using our catapults. The more he bullied us, the more we catapulted him. It continued until a stone nearly blinded him and he offered us an olive branch.

As the NATO bombardments in Libya continue, I'm sure one of Gadaffi's greatest regrets would be the fact that he did not give al-Qaeda all the support it needed, that is if he ever gave them any support at all. That his days as president are numbered is no longer in doubt. But I respect him for refusing the AU's offer of a safe haven in an unnamed African state. Was that not the same ploy used on Charles Taylor?

Yes, the US and its allies have killed Bin Laden. They also sang hallelujah in Fallujah when they killed Saddam. They may defeat or even kill Gadaffi and dance Salsa in Libya. But trust me, they will sooner than later sing dirges to mourn their loved ones. I'm of the conviction that the unconventional war is not yet over. As a matter of fact, it has just started. Only two questions keep on dangling in my mind: Which country is next after Libya? And when and where will the next major al-Qaeda attack happen?

I shudder to think of an answer!
