Sacked Sofoline Interchange workers threaten “serious action' over unpaid salaries

Workers of the Chinese firm constructing the Sofoline Interchange in Kumasi have threatened to face off with their employers over unpaid salaries.

The agitated workers, who were laid off late last year, would not give details but said they would take 'serious action' to achieve their objective.

China Geo Engineering Company has been facing financial difficulties due to what officials said was government's inability to release funds for the project.

About 200 workers were disengaged last December after company officials said they had finished the task for which they were engaged.

Local Union Secretary, Rudolf Asawla said another set of workers had been asked to go home, a move he described as cheating.

When contacted, company officials declined comment on the issue.
