The Pentecost Church of Ghana is to establish an educational institution from the kindergarten to the university level at Obuasi within the next five years.

The first phase of the project, comprising the Kindergarten to Senior High, which is to be built by the Obuasi area branch of the church, would cost GH¢500,000, while the second phase, being the university, would be funded by the national office of the church.

Announcing this at the official sod-cutting ceremony of the project, Dr.

He said, so far, the church had 71 schools, including two senior high, two girls vocational, a technical institute, and a tertiary institution.

Dr. Yeboah emphasised the church's commitment to the project, since it sought to seek the wellbeing of the majority of Ghanaians who have the quest to pursue higher education, adding, 'Education, backed by solid and moral training, will be the cornerstone of the institution.'

The Director therefore, appealed to church members and public-spirited individuals to support 'this worthy cause to increase the number of institutions, especially, that of universities in the country.'

Cutting the sod for the commencement of the project, Apostle Emmanuel Achim Gyimah, Obuasi Area Head of the church, said the area, comprising, Amanise East, Amansie West, Adansi North, Adansi South and Obuasi Municipality would commit an amount of GH¢100,000 annually towards the completion of the project.

He, therefore, charged the members to develop the spirit of giving, to enable them complete the project as scheduled.

The Presiding Member of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Mr. J. F. K. Addai, commended the leadership of the church for the project, and said it would help raise the image of the municipality.

'The project is a very good one, as it will not produce ordinary graduates, but graduates who are god-fearing and committed.'

In attendance were representatives of the Adansi Traditional Council and the former Member of Parliament for Obuasi, Mr. Bright Boadi Mensah.
