Police identifies robber

Nsawam (E/R), May 12, GNA - The Nsawam Police has identified an armed robber, who died at the Nsawam Government Hospital, as Sulley Issah, 30.

Issah was one of three armed robbers, who were involved in cattle rustling at Otukwadjo near Nsawam.

They engaged the Police in a gun battle and one of them, who was shot and killed on the spot, was yet to be identified while Issah, who was also shot, died at the Hospital.

Police Superintendent Samuel Boabeng, Nsawam District Police Commander, who confirmed the story to Ghana News Agency, said the Police had a tip off that the three robbers, armed with guns attacked the people of Otukwadjo.

He said the Police went to the community to arrest the robbers but they were engaged in a shoot out, resulting in the death of one of the gang and the rest fled.

The Commander said the two corpses have been deposited at the Police Hospital in Accra.
