Ghanaian Student Entrepreneurs to be honored on February 24th 2012

Nominations for Ghana Student Entrepreneurs Awards (GSEA) have been opened. A statement issued in Accra on Friday by Mr Ekow Mensah, Country Director of The African Network of Entrepreneurs (TANOE), said the award's nomination and campaign will be launched in all tertiary institutions in Ghana from the 14th of October 2011.

The Award's ceremony scheduled for Friday, February 24th 2012, has the theme:" Celebrating Students' Innovation, Passion and Drive ". This event is being organized by the Student Entrepreneurs Network (SENet), which is the student wing of The African Network of Entrepreneurs (TANOE) with the sole objective of discovering and developing young entrepreneurs right from school.

According to the SENet National Coordinator Mr. Kofi Agyekum; GSEA seeks to recognize and honour outstanding students who juggle a course load as students and run their own businesses at the same time. GSEA will provide early-stage student entrepreneurs with needed support, mentorship, recognition and networks to successfully turn their start-ups into globally competitive businesses.

SENet aims to change the mindset of students to become job creators through the consistent and effective promotion of entrepreneurship in all schools in Ghana and by instituting this awards, hopes to educate and motivate students to consider entrepreneurship as a viable career option in and out of school.

He added that, the GSEA Awards include:
Ghana Student Entrepreneur of the Year, Best Female and Male Student Social Entrepreneurs, Best Student Entrepreneurs in the following industries Agriculture, ICT, Education, Finance, Manufacturing, Health, Media, Spots, Arts, Engineering, Transportation, entrepreneur Support Organization, Fashion and beauty, Most Innovative Idea, Product or Service and lastly, Best Student Entrepreneur Support Organization in Ghana.
