Presiding Bishop calls for team work in the Methodist Church

April 07, 2011 Oyoko (E/R), April 7, GNA - The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Most Reverend Professor Emmanuel K. Asante, on Thursday appealed to evangelists in the Church to refrain from the use of expensive bill boards to advertise crusades.

He said those practices more often turned to glorify individuals whose pictures are advertised on the boards instead of the Church as a team.

Most Rev Prof. Asante was opening the Seventh National Evangelists Conference of the Methodist Church-Ghana at Oyoko in the New Juaben Municipality.

The five-day conference is being organized under the theme "Promoting Teamwork in Evangelism and Mission" and 200 evangelists of the Church are attending.

He said no one could single handedly change the world unless one is part of a team of believers who are dedicated to world evangelism.

In a speech read on his behalf the Eastern Regional Minister, Dr. Kwasi Akyem Apea-Kubi, appealed to Evangelists to help fight some of the social challenges facing the country.

He reminded them that the growth and development of the church depend to a large extent on them, especially at this age where a lot of false prophets had emerged and were playing on the intelligence of some Christians and leading them astray.
