Ewe Union-Hamburg introduces Ewe Language program on air
18.03.2011 LISTEN

Ewe Union Hamburg has recently introduced a program in the Ewe language to project Ewe value in term of culture. The language, which had been faded away since 1960s is gradually taking its glory as a result of commissioning of a new Radio station in Hamburg, Germany late last year.

The CEO of the radio station, (TopAfric Radio) Mr. Desmond Beddy has requested all lacal unions in Hamburg to take this golden opportunity to use the media to propagate rich Africa culture.

In view of this development, the executives of the Ewe union deem it very necessary to re-introduce series of culture programmes to educate Friends and Families in the diaspora.

Ewe dialect is widely spoken in West Africa regions of Ghana, southen Togo and the Republic of Benin with diversified rich cultures. It is therefore most internationally recognised as compared to other local languages in the sub-sahara region of Africa.

Readers would bear with me that, interesting and educative programmes in Ghanaian local languages in Dagbani, Ga, Ewe, Akan etc on Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC one)during the colonial era with sweet voices from presenters like Maame Afia, Gameli Ametame, Kwami Dzorkoto,Yaoga Amuzu, etc.had been discontinued as a result of springing up of modern technology of commercial Radio stations in the systerm.

The programmme Producers request all prospective listerners both home and abroad to log in to www.TopAfric.com this and every Sunday at 18:00 - 20:00 GMT to enjoy special programme in ewe dialect. The executives would therefore wish to give their compliments to the following members who have been devoting their time for the programme: Mr. Brown Dameshie; Madam Pat Govina; Helen Kokoroko; Daavi Akpene and Vincent Peddy.

Others are Mensah Gbedegbe and Manesseh Kporzuxe. They (Executives) Further urged all and sundry to co-operate and embrace this re-birth and that, all Entrepreneurs, companies, and Individuals desirous to assist or to sponsor the continual running of the programme could contact the Union Chairman, Philip Avanyoh,Tel. +49(0)1701849 165, +49(0)4069455038,+49(0)17636100943 for detailed information. He (Mr Avanyo) further gave the assurance that, commercial or social information from the stakeholders shall regularly be announced during the radio programme.

They (Executives) would however appreciate donations via the given accounts information: Account Name (Ewe Verein e.v.) Accounts Nr.(1340120706),Banker(Hamburger Sparkasse - Hamburg, Germany) with the code number (200 505 501).
