Sixty-six students of the Cape Coast Polytechnic have been dismissed today (Wednesday) for allegedly using fake results to gain admission into the polytechnic.

Eleven others have been asked to present their original certificates to the polytechnic latest by tomorrow (Thursday). The mass dismissal was in line with the polytechnic’s rule of adopting a process that will ensure that only qualified students gain admission into the institution.

The Principal, Dr J.K. Borsah, said in an interview that it is also to discourage any forgery of examination results by applicants into the institution. He said, “this polytechnic is committed to ensuring that all students admitted qualify to be here and we will do all we can to ensure that this is done.”

Dr Borsah said a committee was set up to look critically at the results of students and compare with a master list from the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC). He said the 66 were found to have either forged results or gained admissions in with results of other persons.

According to Dr Borsah, “the school will continue to do this exercise yearly, to ensure that the system is purged of all bad elements.”
