Accra, Jan. 27, GNA - The People's National Convention (PNC) announced on Thursday that Mr Basili Wasai, a retired career diplomat, has been named chairman of the party's Interim Management Committee.
Mr Wasai, Chairman of the Council of Elders, would be chairman and leader of the party to administer the party's affairs until a national congress is convened later in the year to elect national officers and leader of the party.
It said it became expedient for the party to set up the committee in order to rectify certain constitutional anomalies facing it in recent times.
The statement, which was signed by Mr Wasai, noted that the setting up of the committee was consistent with the party's philosophy and belief in the rule of law and democratic governance.
It said all matters and correspondence of the party should be directed to the committee.
