January 24, 2011 Nkoranza (B/A) Jan. 24, GNA - Madam Salamatu Ibrahim, Nkoranza South District Director of Health Services, has noted that the National Youth Employment Programme was a temporary job opportunity to enable the beneficiaries to prepare themselves for the future.

He urged the youth to engage in various job modules of the programme so that they could work towards realising their goals of acquiring full employment in fields of their interest.

Madam Ibrahim was addressing more than 38 health extension workers employed under the programme at an orientation workshop at Nkoranza.

The health extension workers would go through the rudiments of basic health practices for about six months before they would be posted to serve in health facilities in the district.

She advised them to dress decent and to lead lives worthy of emulation as role models in their communities.

Madam Ibrahim asked the extension workers to take their training seriously so that they could be successful in the assessment exercises since their subsequent employment would be based on their performance.

Mr Smart Tommy Jones, District Co-ordinator of NYEP advised the programme beneficiaries to be disciplined and to be punctual and regular at classes so that they would be equipped with the desired knowledge and skills.

The District Co-ordinator said 49 teaching assistants had already been posted to serve in some communities in the district.
