Accra, Jan. 21, GNA - Ms Louisa Atta Agyeman, President of Mendskrom-based Jayee University Student's Representative Council (SRC), has appealed to the government and stakeholders in the transport industry to take measures to minimise road accidents in the host community.

She suggested the need for the construction of traffic light, zebra crossing or an over pass at Mendskrom to reduce the high incidence of road accidents in the area.

Making the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra, she the move would reduce the rampant killing of students and children in the vicinity.

The Mendskrom section of the Accra-Kasoa road in the Greater Accra Region has become a death trap for pedestrians along the dual carriage.

Due to the absence of zebra crossing, a traffic light or an over pass in the community, lives are being lost.

Ms Agyemang said crossing the road was a nightmare as pedestrians continued to be knocked down by vehicles resulting in their death.

"The only thing that can be seen in the middle of the road is a flight of steps where some pedestrians wait to cross from one end to the other. The aged find it difficult to cross the road due to the speeding," she added.
