Bibiani (W/R), Jan 14, GNA - A 31- year old farmer charged with assault and threat of death has been ordered by the Bibiani Magistrate Court to be kept on prison remand.

Kwame Akwabeng, who faces an additional charge of escaping from lawful custody, denied the charge.

He would re-appear on February 11.
Police Chief Inspector Michael Agbablo told the court presided over by Mr Osei Kofi Amoako that the complainant, Samuel Arthur and Faustina Meye, a married couple, live at Sefwi-Kunkumso.

On November 4 last year, Akwabeng beat up Meye without provocation and later threatened to butcher the husband when he sought to find why he physically assaulted his wife.

The prosecution said the couple made a formal report to the police at Bibiani, and the accused was arrested.

He said as he was being escorted to the police station, he took to his heels but was re-arrested.
