Court issued bench warrant for arrest of offenders of environmental laws

Suhum, Dec. 26, GNA - the Suhum Magistrate Court presided over by Mrs. Comfort Sarpong has issued bench warrant for the arrest of six persons who committed various environmental offences but failed to appear before the court.

The accused persons included; Kofi Asante, Eric Opoku, Abigail Oduro, Avenye Marku, Akosua Rose and Ernest Kofi Fitter.

According to the prosecutor, Principal Environmental Health Officer Mr. Shaco Billo, health inspectors led by Mr Samuel Asante on their normal house to house inspection entered the premises of the accused persons.

He said the Health Inspectors detected over grown weeds at their surroundings, human excreta, and offensive waste water which could be breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

Mr Billo said the offence was pointed out to the accused persons and later summons were issued to them to appear before the court.
