Tema, Dec. 21, GNA - Reverend Samuel Owusu Jackson, Founder of HATH Foundation, at the weekend, underscored the need for society to appreciate the role of the Aged, and to reciprocate the gesture, by providing them with the basic necessities of life.

He regretted that instead of catering for the Aged, most of them had been neglected by members of society, accusing them of being witches and wizards.

Speaking at an end of year get-together, organised for the Aged in the Tema Metropolis, by the Foundation, Rev Jackson said, the time had now come for society to appreciate the invaluable contributions of the Aged, and to give back what was due them.

"Some of our aged parents have contributed their quota to our upbringing, and the development of our society and the nation as a whole. It is now time for us and society to appreciate and give back what is due them."

He urged society to endeavour to create conducive and healthy environment, where the Aged could be recognized, and respected.

Rev Jackson said the Foundation was in the process of putting up a recreational centre, where the Aged would congregate to have fun, in order to always make them feel at home.

Apart from meals, the Foundation provided the Aged with free medical screening. They also entertained themselves with out-door games.
