Ho, Dec. 17, GNA - Mr Courage Danku, an aspiring Assemblyman for Sokode-Gbogame Electoral Area, has pledged to empower the youth and women in the area.

He said he would use his organizational skills and experiences as a former assemblyman to help women and the youth acquire skills and jobs.

Mr Danku said this in an interview with the GNA in Ho on Friday.

He observed that the high level of youth unemployment accounts for the underdevelopment of the area and expressed the hope that when young people were gainfully employed they could pay community levies to develop the communities.

Mr Danku promised to encourage young people in the area to form groups and take advantage of the Agriculture Module of the National Youth Employment Programme while young women would be helped to acquire vocations.

Mr Danku said he would use his instrumentality to build an Information Communication Centre in the area just as he did in building classroom blocks and facilitating the provision of pipe borne water for the community.

He also pledged to ensure good sanitation and "bring Sokode back to its enviable position as a clean community."
