GLAMOROUS FAREWELL HELD FOR REVEREND FRENCH IN TORONTO

REVEREND FRENCH RECEIVING A CITATION IN HONOUR OF HIS SERVICE.

The outgoing superintendent minister in charge of Ghana Methodist Mission in Canada, Very Reverend Jacob William French, on December 5, finally bid the church farewell to mark the end of his five years term of office in Toronto.

Like the biblical Ephesians Christians style, the church organized a glamorous farewell service to mark the occasion where both leaders and members as part of showing their appreciation to the minister of God bid him farewell as he also officially said good bye to his fellow members.

What could have been a moment of joy turned out to be moment of broken hearts as majority of the members could not hold the feeling of departure from their midst of a man of God they have fellowshipped with for the past five years running.

One could feel the effect of the absence of the outgoing reverend minister as few members shared tears, sob or had a clog of throat which changed their speech immediately he delivered his farewell sermon that finally told the members that he was going to leave their midst.

It could be seen on many others how their eyes turned red as they tried to ponder over the absence they were going to experience from a man of God several years ago they welcomed with hearts of joy as their leader but has to say good bye to him now that they have lived cordially with all these while.

Emotions were very high few minutes to the moment where he delivered what could be termed as his last sermon as the minister in charge of the church as the auditorium was dead silent to listen to him.

But in a soul touching farewell sermon which was greeted with a standing ovation from a section of the members, Reverend Jacob William French, prayed that the good Lord will continue to hold the church with his strong arm for it to grow from strength to strength so that his people will see his miraculous power in their lives.

He soothed the hearts of many who were sad by saying,” there is time for everything. Time for arrival and time to depart noting that his departure was not a permanent transition like that of the prophets where possibly in some time to come will gather again with members to continue worshiping God.

Very Reverend French, charged the congregation to fear God by serving him faithfully. According to him, he was 16 years old when he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior. Ten years later he heard the call to go into full time ministry and if the good lord has granted him mercies in all his 22 years experience as a minister of God, he has every right to praise him for that.

Accordingly,” throughout my life I have feared God and served him faithfully and I want to share the greatest direction to God with you and again is to fear him and worship him faithfully”.

He encouraged the congregation to always celebrate the mercies and goodness of God which he explained as celebrating the goodness in people's lives and not the bad ones as often seen.

Then followed his last prayer for the members which triggered the emotions,” God should always be with you and your children for you to testify that you are worshiping the almighty God, he should listen to your prayers as you reap peace, blessing and understanding in returns that you can continue the work of salvation in the community.

He was full of praise to the members for their hospitality, humility, love, friendship and supporting prayers which enabled him and his family to successfully embark on the spiritual journey.
