By Nwaorgu Faustinus

Following the admirable achievements of Governor Rotimi Amaechi in the area of infrastructural development and coupled with the first ever solidarity initiative, Rivers State people among other stakeholders today, 10 December, 2010 organize a two-million-man march to adopt him as their consensus candidate for the 2011 governorship election.

Describing the occasion as a celebration of an epitome of excellence and service, Princewill Political Associates (PPA) said, “Amaechi has redefines governance in Nigeria and we are ready to support him to provide more of such a glaring and visible leadership to our people come 2011. For a man to resolve to build a total new city comparable with any modern city in Europe, initiate the construction of a monorail the first of its kind in Africa, save on a monthly basis for the future of our state the sum of N1B without tampering with it, the first of a such a move by any government in Nigeria, offer scholarship and free education to our children from primary to secondary levels, constructed and equipped 24 model Secondary Schools distributed and sited in all the LGAs of the State, constructed 260 functional Health Centres, constructed 350 model Primary Schools, offer University scholarship to our people both in Canada, India, Ireland, Singapore and UK, engaged in the construction of 800km of roads across the State, construction of 10 major and 20 minor bridges, land reclamation/shore protection projects at Andoni, Opobo, Buguma, Abalama, Olobie/Owukiri, Oba Ama, Okirika, construction of two major markets, a shopping mall and two fly-over/interchange, arrested the precarious insecurity in the State, built and distributed 60 quality projects to 60 Communities in 60 days a move that can only be watched in a movie but a reality only to be achieved by Amaechi, attract foreign investors, build roads on the Sea to link communities that doesn't know how cars or roads look like, reclaim lands from the seas, redefines governance, If Gov Amaechi could achieve these much within three years then we can only imagine what Rivers State will look like if he is given another opportunity of extra four years”.

In an online press statement by the spokesperson of PPA, Chief Chukwuemeka Eze enthused: “To us in the Princewill Political Associates (PPA), for Amaechi to have succeeded to force our principal, Prince Tonye Princewill to bury his gubernatorial ambition in order to allow him complete and continue with his good deeds in Rivers State it takes only Amaechi a living legend to do that and we are very grateful to God that we could make such sacrifices in order to move our State forward and we expect all other aspirants to toe the path of honour and respect the stand and feeling of the people of Rivers State and emulate the Prince of Niger Delta Politics and join the positive train of Amaechi to take the State to greater heights”.

Princewill in a goodwill message sent to the organizers of the event - two million man march titled, “An Achiever and Performer Deserves another Opportunity” stated, “It is not how long but how well they say. In just a little over three years, Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has demonstrated excellent leadership in the development and administration of our dear state. Your laudable and people oriented projects, programmes and policies are there for all to see. You have no doubt taken Rivers state to her once enviable position among the comity of states. You have brought succour to our people through the provision of world class and affordable health care services, standard and free education, good roads, overseas scholarships for our children, regular power supply, and security, boasted investors confidence in the state, the list goes on and on. That is why I join millions of our good people in calling on you my brother to heed the clarion call on you to seek a second term in office. There was a Rivers dream, make us believe in it again.”

PPA therefore concurred with the recent submission by a great mind, a seasoned and reputed Consultant on Strategy and Communication based in Abuja, Mr. Ifeanyi Izeze when in his recent masterstroke article he titled “Amaechi's Only Opposition Is Himself?”, he stated, “if merits are taken into consideration then the 2011 governorship election in the Rivers State will be by consensus. Beyond this also, posterity will ever remember Amaechi as the man who appeared on stage to bring peace, unity and visible development and improvement of quality of lives of the people of the state. Having said this, the governor should know that the people of the state are tired of political jives which have never produced any good for them. They want to hear the governor talk through infrastructures and development projects and programmes that have direct bearing on their daily lives. As has been rightly said, “If we can't move forward, then we can move back to where Rivers state was in the 1970s; where everyone could proudly say I am a Port Harcourt boy.” However, the only place we don't want to be is the place, the state found itself between 2002 and 2007 when a climate of fear and insecurity coupled with massive looting of public funds prevailed and God will hear our prayers, Amen”.

“May God guide our people to that which is right at this period of our history, as we will never be forgiven should we allow those that put us in bad light from 2002-2007 to succeed to stage their evil come back. A word is enough for the wise!!” Princewill Political Associates prayed and advised.
