Accra, Oct 29, GNA - Three persons including a female, on Friday appeared before a Fast Track High Court in Accra, charged with conspiracy to commit crime, causing harm and robbery.

The three, Narteley Nettey Yirenkyiwa, Charles Antwi and Nana Yaw Ampaw were alleged to have conspired to rob one Mr Joseph Adu on August 26, this year at East Legon, Accra.

They have pleaded not guilty to the charges and the court has remanded them into Police custody to reappear on November 12.

The prosecution told the court that the complainant is a businessman residing at East Legon in Accra.

On the morning of August 26 this year, Narteley Nartey called the complainant, Mr Adu to meet her at Protea Hotel. When they met, she asked for financial help from him and they agreed to meet later at her house.

When Mr Adu got to her house, he met Yirenkyiwaa outside, who took him into the house. They then proceeded to her bedroom where she allegedly undressed him.

The prosecution said when she had done this, the other two accused persons came out of the bathroom where they were hiding and started taking pictures, after which they attacked the complainant with a knife and took his pair of trousers which contained GH¢1000.

The struggling and shouting by the complainant in the room attracted the watchman at the house who together with some other tenants arrested Narteley and Charles. Nana Yaw however managed to escape but was arrested later during investigations.

Mr. Addo Atua, counsel for the accused persons, prayed the court to admit his clients to bail since the facts of the prosecution did not support the case.

Mr Atua said Narteley, is a designer, the girlfriend of the complainant and she had hired the other accused persons to make some clothes for her, which they came to deliver on that day.

While conversing with them she told them that her boyfriend had been mistreating her, even raped her, and that her rent was due. They had therefore decided to play a prank on the complainant.

He stressed that the complainant had gone to Yirenkyiwaa's bedroom voluntarily and had undressed himself. He then noticed the two in the room and jumped at them. Antwi picked a knife to defend himself.

Mr Adi in an attempt to wrestle the knife from Antwi cut his hand.
