Takoradi, Sept. 30, GNA - Final year students of Takoradi Polytechnic are to graduate six months after completing their studies, which is a significant stride from waiting up to two years for the ceremony.

Consequently, students who completed their Higher National Diploma and Bachelor of Technology programmes in June this year have their certificates awarded to them during the novel congregation scheduled for December 18.

Speaking to the media at Takoradi on Tuesday, Reverend Professor Daniel Nyarko, Rector of Takoradi Polytechnic said the new development would afford students the opportunity to integrate seamlessly into the job market.

"Our vision is occasioned by the fact that not graduating our students on time lowered their chances of getting jobs, delayed the promotion of those who came to the polytechnics on study leave and held-up the momentum of those seeking further education," he stressed.

Rev Prof Nyarko said the Management of the Polytechnic had outlined an elaborate plan to engage all stakeholders in the best interest of students and to enhance operational efficiency of the academic institution.

He said officials of the National Board for Professional and Technician Examinations (NABPTEX), the examining body, which must certify all results of the polytechnic, have been notified and had therefore started work on verifying the marks obtained by students in line with the quality assurance standards.
