CLOGSAG to meet Fair Wages Commission over salaries

Leaders of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association (CLOSGAG) will hold discussions with the Fair Wages Commission Thursday. This follows CLOGSAG's demands to be allowed to separately negotiate for better pay.

The Association staged a nationwide protest last week after the government refused to grant them that right.

Now a joint technical committee comprising the Fair Wages Commission, the Finance and Employment Ministries as well as leaders of CLOGSAG are scheduled to meet Thursday.

“What we are doing is to try to meet with them and discuss the jobs within the civil service and find a way of having the job re-evaluation done to be able to determine whether their position that their jobs have been rated low is tenable or not.

“We are going to discuss the technical issues that have to do with their complaints," Mr. Smith Graham CEO of the Fair Wages Commission said in an interview with Joy News.

He added that Thursday's meeting will only address the placement of the CLOGSAG members on the new pay policy and not their rights to negotiate.
