THERE IS good news for cocoa farmers in the country as they will for the first time access a pension scheme to better their lives during old age if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) wins the 2012 polls.

The NPP presidential candidate said plans are afoot by his party to introduce a pension scheme to support cocoa farmers in their old age, adding that this would help the farmers to live happy lifestyles devoid of financial troubles when they are no longer in business.

He made this pleasant disclosure whilst addressing a large gathering at the NPP rally at Kwabeng on Sunday, which marked the climax of the party's campaign for the Atiwa Constituency seat.

Cataloguing his vision and effectual plans for the country and its people, Nana Akufo-Addo said a national apprenticeship programme to help school dropouts to learn a trade would also be established by his government.

The former Attorney General and Minister of Justice who played leading roles in the NPP government lamented that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration was virtually collapsing all the social intervention programmes that the NPP, under President Kufuor, introduced to better the lives of the populace.

When voted into office, Nana Akufo-Addo assured to revitalize the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), School Feeding Programme, just to mention a few, which the NPP administration implemented to help the people, but is now on the brink of collapsing under the NDC government.

Nana Akufo-Addo observed that education holds the key to the country's success so as president, he would use the country's resources to boost the education system to ensure that every child in the country enjoys quality education.

He also announced that his administration would make Senior High School education free for every Ghanaian child, to help lessen the huge burden on parents.

Nana Akufo-Addo, who lost narrowly to President Mills in the 2008 national polls, implored the electorate not to make a mistake this time around, but to vote massively for him to lead Ghana to the promise land. From I.F. Joe Awuah Jnr., Kwabeng, Eastern Region
