ZAIN MOVES TO STEP UP THE EDUCATIONAL ATTAINMENT OF THE GIRL CHILD

Zain recently demonstrated its strong belief in the capabilities of the girl child by supporting the just ended Annual Girls' Camp at the Achimota Senior High School. Characteristic of Zain, the company aside granting the request of the organizers, donated educational materials as part of its Build Our Nation (BON) initiative, the educational arm of its CSR activities.

Organized by ActionAid Ghana in collaboration with the Girls' Education Unit of the Ghana Education Service (GES), World University Service Canada (WUSC) and Plan Ghana, the 10-day camp was under the theme “Empowering Girls through Education: Building potentials for leadership”. It drew 270 talented young girls aged11-16 from rural backgrounds across the country, and sought to expose them to an urban and modern environment so as to increase their self-esteem and challenge them pursue their education.

Mr. Benjamin Ato Afful, speaking on behalf of the Corporate Communication and External Affair's Manager said, “At Zain take initiatives that empower women, particularly young women very seriously. This camps puts marginalized young girls on an equal footing to their male counterparts We recognize the indispensable role education plays in the development of an individual and ultimately a Nation, that is why we will remain committed to empowering and supporting the education of Ghanaians wherever possible,
