Five envoys present Letters of Credence to President Mills

Accra , Aug 5, GNA- Five envoys accredited to Ghana , on Thursday presented their Letters of Credence to President John Evans Atta Mills at the Jubilee House, in Accra .

They are Ms Jeanette Thokozile Ndhlovu, South Africa Ambassador to Ghana; Mr Tullio Guma, Republic of Italy, Mr Omer Abdel Wahb Selim, from Egypt, Mr Gong Jianzong from the Republic of China, Mr Costas Leontion from the Republic of Cyprus.

All the five envoys stated their determination to work to improve and deepen the bilateral and trade ties with Ghana .

The envoy from Cyprus is the first Ambassador from the Eurasian Island country.

President Mills commended them on their appointment and assured them that Government would co-operate with them and provide a cordial environment to inch up the relations with their respective countries of origin.

In a related event, Mr. Balla Mandaw Dia, Outgoing Senegal Ambassador to Ghana , also paid a courtesy call on the President at the Jubilee House.

Mr Dia, who has been in Ghana for the past five years, described his stay in Ghana as the most rewarding in his diplomatic career.

He said that he found Ghana not engaged in competition, but in complementary positions adding "It is difficult for me to leave this beautiful people".

President Mills commended the out-going Ambassador on his successful tenure.

He announced he and Senegal 's President Abdoulaye Wade had indicated their wish to lift the cooperation between Ghana and Senegal to a higher and deeper level.

"We'll continue to co-operate with out brothers and sisters in Senegal . I'm happy we have some common vision and interest," President Mills said.

As a memorabilia, the President presented a traditional wooden stool to the outgoing Ambassador and piece of kente cloth to be given to his wife.
