Four widows appeal to NADMO for assistance

Amasaman, July 29, GNA - Four widows whose husbands were killed on March 23, 2010 during a clash between two families at Danchira in the Ga West District have appealed to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) for assistance.

The clash occurred during land litigation between Nii Gyambi Amo Family and Ayetei Akramang family.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Obeyeyie near Amasaman on Thursday, Madam Jamila Oblitey, one of the widows, said they took shelter at the Islamic Orphanage leaving behind their property worth hundreds of Ghana cedis.

She said victims of the clash numbering about 70, including school children who as a result had stopped schooling, were without food and clothing.

The other widows, Marian Lamptey, Madam Rukia Lamptey and Marian Amma Musah said they wanted to go back but information they received indicated that all the buildings of their husbands had been destroyed including their farms.

They appealed to NADMO to assist them especially with food and clothing to save them from starving.

Alhaji Saeed Ahmed Yussif, Proprietor of the Orphanage, said the victims were more than 70, since others had been accommodated by friends and relatives in communities including Afoaman, Nsankyena and Ayikai Doblo.

He appealed to the authorities to come to their aid to enable the children to continue with their education.
