Ekiti State Governor, Engr. Segun Oni has commiserated with legal icon, Aare Afe Babalola (SAN) over the death of his mother, Madam Abigail Ajayi Babalola (nee Oshunkunle), saying; the legal luminary and his entire family should be consoled by the fact that the woman lived a fulfilled and exemplary life.
Madam Ajayi Babalola died yesterday morning at the age of 114.
Governor Oni, who reacted to Madam Babalola's death through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre prayed that God in His infinite mercies will grant the deceased eternal rest and grant the Afe Babalola's family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
His words; “I wish to express the sympathy of the government and people of Ekiti State to our father, mentor, statesman and the pride of our land, Aare Afe Babalola over the demise of his beloved mother.
“I understand how it is to lose a friend, mother and caretaker, which Madam Abigail Ajayi Babalola was to Chief Afe Babalola but the legal icon and his entire family should be condoled by the fact that the woman lived a fulfilled and exemplary life.
“My prayer is that God in His infinite mercies will grant the children the grace to continue to uphold the virtues of Godliness, which the late Mama Ajayi symbolised.
“On behalf of my family, Government and people of Ekiti State, I express our heartfelt condolence for the loss of such a distinguished woman and wish our father, Chief Afe Babalola and the entire family of Olotin, Akogun, Idofin and Idemo of Ado-Ekiti the continued support and guidance of the Almighty God,” Oni said.
