Headmistress of ADGISS calls for infrastructural facilities
July 19, 2010
Ntonso (Ash), July 19, GNA - The Headmistress of the Adventist Girls Senior High School (ADGISS), Madam Paulina Agyekum, has expressed concern about the inadequate infrastructure in the school and has appealed for more support to improve the situation.
She said although the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) was financing the construction of a Home Economics and dormitory blocks for the school, these were not enough, given the student population and its academic programmes.
Madam Agyekum told a meeting of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) on Sunday that the teachers for example lacked accommodation.
This, she said was unhelpful to effective academic work and supervision and that this needed to be tackled.
She urged the parents to ensure that they pay their wards' school fees promptly and advised that this should be done through the bankers' draft and not cash.
Madam Agyekum spoke of their determination to enforce discipline among the students and asked for the understanding and cooperation of the parents to help check unacceptable behaviours and attitudes that tend to undermine academic work.
She commended the executive of the PTA for the good work they were doing to support the progress of the school.
