Accra, June 30, GNA - The Greater Accra Regional Health Directorate has decided to merge Ridge Hospital OPD and Adabraka Polyclinic into one entity to be known as "Ridge Hospital OPD, Adabraka", with effect from Thursday, July 1.
A statement issued in Accra on Wednesday and signed by Professor Irene Agyepong, Greater Accra Regional Director of Health Services, said the merger was part of an overall regional programme to improve health services.
It explained that the measure was intended to address the congestion at the Ridge Hospital OPD and the under-utilisation of facilities at Adabraka Polyclinic.
All Ridge Hospital OPD facilities including the staff, nurses, doctors, pharmacists and para-medicals are being moved to Adabraka Polyclinic.
The statement said a fully equipped ambulance with Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT's) would be stationed at Adabraka Polyclinic to cater for referrals needing admission to Ridge Hospital .
It requested patients seeking OPD medical care at Ridge Hospital from July 1, to first report at the New Ridge OPD, Adabraka Polyclinic.
"However, if you have a referral note to attend specific specialist clinic then please go straight to the Ridge Hospital ," the statement added.
