• Declares a portion for community development and the chunk for mechanized farming
The entire community of Amakpo, a suburb of Ada, in The Greater Accra region went agog with jubilation when on Friday, one of their subjects, Nomotey F. Akam, a 47 year old peasant farmer, won GHC 50,000 in the Zain Live Your Dream promotion and was spontaneously installed a Development Chief of the community.
Akam became the last winner in the 2010 edition of the Zain promotion which for the past 13 weeks, has doled out thousands of GHC to customers for the sole purpose of using the largesse to realize their life time dreams.
Akam's elevation to the status of a chief followed his declaration to commit a part of his win to the development of Amakpo. By this, not only has he stepped into a new world of financial prosperity but has also risen to a new status of social relevance and prominence. The event which saw his elevation was officiated by the chief of Amakpo, Nene Ahoundie I, in the full glare of hundreds of spectators.
Moments after the show, cheerful Akam said “it will take me some time to come to terms with my sudden rise to fame and fortune. I will, as a matter of urgency, purchase farming equipment and launch into mechanized farming. I am also going to dedicate a part of my GHC 50,000 in the development of my community; thank God my cherished dream has come true”.
“This is a moment of truth and today, Zain has proved to me beyond reasonable doubt, that indeed, it is a network of the people”, he added.
Following the draw of his number last week Tuesday as the final winner, the Live Your Dream team trooped into to the Dangme East District and presented him with the exclusive right to play the game show to round up season II of the promotion.
Akam has since picked an amazing cash prize of GHC 50,000 which is the sum of his three lucky numbers to live his dream in consonance with the objectives of the promotion.
For thirteen weeks running, Zain has been changing the lives of its customers, offering on weekly basis an opportunity to win up to GHC 75,000. During the period, 6 lucky customers from the Greater Accra region won varied sums of money including Messrs Samuel Nana Mireku, Haruna Issaka, Martin Mensah, Stephen Addo, Senanu Agbozo, Mrs. Emelia Derkyi and lately, Nomotey Akam.
The others include 14 year old Linat Siedu from Wa in the Upper West region; Freda Asari, Brong Ahafo Region; Anita Tornyi, Western Region as well as Paul Darkwah and Samuel Owusu Agyemang Prempeh from the Ashanti region.
According to Zain Ghana Marketing Manager, Consumer and Payphone Segment, Mr. Tara Squire, “for the past 13 weeks the Zain Live Your Dream promotion has ran, customers on the network have won GHC 792, 500.00 while 520 others were presented with various prizes ranging from Acer Netbook laptops to exotic high-earned phones in addition to thousands worth of airtime.
“We set out on a mission some months back to positively touch the lives of our treasured customers and we have lived by our words. Although we have drawn the curtain on the second edition of the LYD, this however, does not bring to rest Zain's resolve to delight our customers. We are coming out bigger and better with other consumer packages to further delight our customers in the coming weeks.”
The last Zain LYD Reward Show will screen on GTV this Friday at 9:30pm, TV3 on Saturdays at 6:55pm, Metro TV on Friday and Saturdays at 6:05pm and 8:00pm respectively. ETV airs it on Saturdays and Sunday at 6:00pm.
