The Ashanti Regional Manager of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh, is in deep trouble, following his alleged incessant attempts to sexually abuse female workers in his office.

The loquacious National Democratic Congress (NDC) activist has been hauled before his boss for possible sanction, including dismissal.

Yamoah Ponkoh's action has attracted severe criticisms from members of the public in the metropolis.

The Ashanti Regional NHIS boss is being accused of indiscriminately sleeping with female workers, especially National Service personnel.

Ponkoh's alleged sexual misconduct has been described as a complete deviation from the socially accepted moral values many Ghanaians cherish and he is being investigated by the NHIA secretariat in Accra.

Acting Executive Director of the NHIA, Sylvester Mensah, confirmed on Oman FM in Accra yesterday that Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh is being investigated on a number of allegations including sexual harassment, abuse of office and corruption.

He said the allegations are coming from some members of the public, including National Democratic Congress (NDC) activists, National Service personnel, interns and staff of the NHIS in Kumasi.

According to reports, ladies who dared to turn down Ponkoh's sexual demands allegedly got sacked or transferred to remote areas as a form of punishment for their seeming insubordination.

A source close to the Ashanti Regional secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) told DAILY GUIDE in a telephone interview that the party is yet to sit on the allegations made against Yamoah Ponkoh.

Ponkoh's alleged uncontrolled sexual misconducts were brought to light when he encountered a certain succulent and beautiful lady named Alberta, at his office.

The former official of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Kwaebibrem football clubs was said to have on several occasions tried unsuccessfully to invite Alberta to his home in order for her to warm his bed, which request the lady had always disregarded.

The situation created disaffection and animosity between Yamoah Ponkoh and Alberta who, during one of their exchanges over the issue, secretly recorded their conversation to serve as evidence.

A copy of the tape recording is in the possession of DAILY GUIDE, as it was played on Fox FM, a Kumasi-based radio station recently, to the chagrin of numerous listeners.

In their chat, Ponkoh is heard loudly describing himself as a misogynist who has no girlfriend, and has never proposed love to any woman before.

He claims it is rather the women who are interested in him.

“The only thing you say is I wanted something from you and because you refused I am sacking you. But I am not bothered in any way because people have already tarnished my image in Kumasi,” he told his female subordinate in his desperate bid to sleep with her.

When DAILY GUIDE reached him for his comment, Yamoah Ponkoh admitted having an encounter with Alberta but refused further comment.

Meanwhile, DAILY GUIDE has been reliably informed that some elements within NDC who were dissatisfied with the appointment of Yamoah Ponkoh are allegedly behind Alberta's conduct and recording of the private conversation in a bid to get him sacked.

Read below the transcribed version of the conversation between Yamoah Ponkoh and Alberta.

Alberta: You are sacking me because I didn't give you the pleasures you wanted?

Ponkoh: You come to my house and everything will be over.

Alberta: I should go because I did not give in to your desires and for not coming to your house?

Ponkoh: No! No! That is not the issue.
Alberta: Sacking somebody because she did not give you the pleasures you wanted and seeing the pleasures will never come.

Ponkoh: Me, I don't have any girlfriend. I don't like women; have never proposed to any woman in Kumasi before. It is the women who are rather interested in me.

Alberta: Are you asking me to leave because you yearn for me? I was not posted here to arouse your interest. Besides you would not have had any feelings for me if I had not been posted here.

Ponkoh: You just do what I want for me.
Alberta: I should do what you want for you? Do you know what you are saying is cheating? I won't go anywhere?

Ponkoh: The only thing you say is I wanted something from you and because you refused I am sacking you. But I am not bothered in any way because people have already tarnished my image in Kumasi

Alberta: If you cannot maintain me here then do not bring any other girl.

Ponkoh:  A girl is coming for attachment and you will not find it pleasing.  Alberta don't you want to be happy? You will even lose this battle if you continue to fight.

Alberta: Let her come, I do not care because she will come and meet me here. I will drag this issue because I am not leaving.

Ponkoh:  I am even supposed to conduct staff reshuffling which is an order from the national level.

Alberta: Professionally as an administrator do you know what you are doing is wrong? I do not mind leaving because I have got nothing to lose but what you are saying is not right.

Ponkoh:  Do you know I am a principled man?
Alberta: I will not take it kindly, being relieved off my duty.

Ponkoh:   Alberta, do you know I used to like and love you a lot?

When contacted by Oman FM yesterday the NHIS head, Sylvester Mensah, said Mr. Yamoah Ponkoh was invited to Accra to answer questions pertaining to allegations about his untoward engagement with female staff under him.

Earlier, Mr. Ponkoh denied that his invitation was in respect of the aforementioned allegations.
