Wa, April 16, GNA -A Chinese made Yutong bus on Monday knocked down a 15-year-old cyclist, Bayalla Emmanuel near the only traffic light in Wa resulting in his untimely death.
Mr. John Ferguson Dzineku, Upper West Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) who briefed the Ghana News Agency on the accident said the boy was rushed to the government hospital in Wa where he was pronounced dead.
Mr. Bawa Abdulai, the driver of the Yutong bus with registration number GE 869 Z had just arrived in the Wa Township from Kumasi and was heading towards his station near the traffic light when the accident occurred.
The MTTU Commander mentioned over speeding as the cause of the accident.
DSP Dzineku said the suspect driver was in police custody and would be arranged before court.
The decease had since been released to the family for burial.
