Schools get school uniforms and exercise books

Plato Number One (W/R), April 14, GNA - Mr. Anthony Bassaw, the Mpohor Wassa East District Chief Executive, on Tuesday launched the distribution of free exercise books and school uniforms for basic schools at separate functions at Plato Number One and Abetemasu.

He presented 118 exercise books and 57 school uniforms to the Abetemasu Primary School at the ceremony.

Mr. Bassaw also presented 816 exercise books and 170 uniforms to Plato Number One Primary School, 533 exercise books to Plato Number One Junior High School and 456 exercise books and 97 uniforms to Plato Number Two Primary School at the ceremony at Plato Number One.

He said the district received over 124,000 exercise books and 500 school uniforms for distribution to pupils under the government's free exercise books and school uniform programme.

Mr. Bassaw appealed to parents and guardians to take advantage of the numerous education programmes of the government and send their children to school.

Alhaji Yakubu Adam, the District Director of Education, appealed to the Abetemasu community to help secure accommodation for teachers who are posted to the area and promised to post more teachers to the community when this was done because teacher accommodation is major problem in the area.
