Over 230 New Patriotic Party (NPP) executives from the old Tafo/Pankrono constituency at the weekend organized a prayer session for their Member of Parliament (MP) Dr. Anthony Osei Akoto and other members of the party who are standing trial for God's will to prevail.

The two hour intensive prayer session was also to seek God's guidance and protection for the lives of the former Finance Minister and his colleagues.

Party executives who were present at the meeting also expressed their support and commitment to the course of the former Ministers of the party.

Addressing the supporters, Hon. Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei, asked them to exercise patience and restraint in the midst of the furore that have been generated within the party, following the prosecution of four former government officials of the party. Dr. Akoto said there was no need for any member of the party to get apprehensive or engage in accusation and counter-accusations as a result of the on-going trial.

The former Minister made the statement over the weekend when he met constituency executives, including polling station officers and ward chairmen of his constituency.

He said, as a party which believes in true democracy and rule of law, there is the need to allow justice to take its course and avoid doing anything that has the tendency to prejudice the country's judicial system.

Dr. Akoto noted, the fact that one is standing trial does not automatically make him or her guilty, and said the most important thing is to ensure that fairness and justice eventually prevail.
