Aiyinasi (W/R), April 12, GNA - About 860 communities in the Western Region will be connected to the National Electricity Grid within the next two years.

The move forms part of government's commitment to connect the entire nation to electricity.

The Deputy Minister of Energy and Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle, Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah made this known at Nyamenli-Kwagyina, in the Ellembelle District.

He said the power supply, which would cover Aiyinasi-Nyamebekyere and Atababo, would be in three phases to ensure constant uninterrupted services.

The District Chief Executive, Mr. Daniel K.Eshun used the occasion to appeal to the Acting Omanhene of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Council, Awulae Etwi Kpanyinli to impress upon his people to pay back the Micro-finance and small loans they took from the previous government.

He said the Assembly would soon clamp down on defaulters and cautioned the people not to view it as a political witch-hunt.

Mr. Eshun asked the people to be patient in their demands for projects since the needs of every community would be addressed in due course.

Awulae Etwi Kpanyinli commended government for the extension of electricity to the area and thanked Mr. Buah in particular for his achievements within the short time in office.

He said he would collaborate with his elders to name a street after the MP for his industrious and selfless service to the constituency.

The wife of the MP, Mrs Joyce Buah advised mothers to educate their girls in order to grow up to contribute towards the decision making process and advance the course of women in society.
