Sogakofe (V/R), April 11, GNA - Togbe Ayitey Gamliga II, Dumaga of Tovey, near Sogakofe, in the South Tongu District, on Friday called on government to build a school for the town to promote education in the area.

He expressed worry that children between the ages of 2 and 5 years had to walk two-kilometers to Dzetorkoe, a nearby town, to attend school while others loitered about or accompanied their parents to farms because of the lack of pre-school and basic school.

Togbe Gamliga made the appeal at the annual fund raising harvest, organized by the people of Tovey, in aid of a five-year development project.

Mr. Peter Kofi Adzoyi, Secretary to the Town Development Committee, said the project would involve the construction of a community centre with pre-school facility, office for the area unit committee, post office, auditorium, clinic, KVIP place of convenience and extension of electricity to the area.

Mr. Adzoyi said the people were paying a special levy of 10 Ghana cedis per female and 20 Ghana cedis per male towards the project.

He appealed to individuals, particularly citizen outside the town, and charitable organizations to support the project.
