Techiman (B/A), April 10, GNA - Mr Kojo Nyamkye Marfo, Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, has deplored the negative attitudes of Government workers towards work and stressed the need to reverse the situation.

The Minister expressed this sentiment when he attended a National Convention of the "Liberty Church" held in Techiman in the Brong Ahafo Region on Friday.

The four-day Convention under the theme: "Pursue and Rescue", was attended by over 650 people across all the 10 regions in the country.

The Minister indicated that many government workers often went to work late or left their offices early before closing time to attend to their personal interests at the expense of Government work, with its attendant adverse effects on productivity.

The Minister said as Christians and Religious bodies, they had a crucial role to play in national development and expressed dismay that despite the proliferation of numerous churches in the country, the spate of crimes including armed robbery, stealing, violence, ritual murder and other social vices were eating deeply into the society.

He, therefore, appealed to religions bodies in the country to target more of their teaching and doctoring towards influencing people in the society to live positive life-styles and decried utterances made by people especially on radio discussions, which could undermine national cohesion and development.

Mr Marfo urged Christians to pray for national growth and development and to also pray for the President and Parliamentarians.

He stated that Government was initiating some good policies that would create more jobs for the teaming unemployed Youth in the country and that every sector Ministry had been asked by the President to create jobs, in addition to foreign investors who would come into the country to invest and create jobs.

Preaching the Easter Convention Sermon, The Reverend Joe Gyamfie of the Liberty Church said Easter was not just mere celebration but a special occasion that should be used to reflect deeply about the death and resurrection of Christ by living true Christian lives that reflect the values of Christ.

He noted that there were more benefits that could be accrued from living according to the scriptures and that practices such as corruption and immoral activities exhibited by some government officials could be minimized if people adhered strictly to the scriptures.

The Reverend Benjamin Joe who also preached, urged Christians to live by faith and said with faith backed by zealous prayers and hard work their requests from God could be met.

He noted that the scriptures had all it takes to make human beings happy on this earth, adding "That was why God, through His Devine powers, inspired His Men to write the scripture and entreated Christians to live by it."
