2008 ballot papers in Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam destroyed

Ajumako (C/R), April 10, GNA — A cross-section of people from the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District of the Central Region, on Thursday witnessed the destruction of the 2008 Presidential and Parliamentary ballot papers at Ajumako.

The order for the disposal of the papers was given by the Electoral Commission.

Political parties representatives present at the event were the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Police, Fire Service and Bureau of National Investigation officials were also present to witness the exercise.

In the presence of the District Electoral Officer, Mr Fiifi Caiquo, all the ballot papers for the 110 polling stations were burnt at about 1030 hours.

Mr Caiquo said the exercise was a normal practice to prepare and inform the public of preparation for the next district level elections.

He said his outfit was yet to come out with dates for the registration and other activities for the next district level elections.
