Man jailed 16 years for robbery

Tema, Feb, 25 GNA - Isahaku Yakubu, 30, casual worker of Ghana Telecom, was on Thursday sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by the Tema Circuit Court 'A' for robbery.

Police Chief Inspector Adolphus Otchere told the court that on May 16, 2008 at about 1800 hours, Enoch Ablorde, complainant, who was on his way to buy gravel chips at the Sakumono beach, was attack by the convict.

Chief Insp Otchere said that the convict attacked the complainant and robbed him of his mobile phone and 220 Ghana Cedis.

Prosecution said the complainant, who knew the convict, raise the alarm but Yakubu bolted to the sea shore.

Chief Inspector Otchere said, the convict was later arrested at a funeral in Sakumono.
