It looks almost certain, lawyer Owusu Afriyie also known as 'Sir John' will pick the hotly contested General Secretary position of the New Patriotic Party at their national delegates conference.

Provisional results so far indicate he has taken a commanding lead, with his supporters jubilating and pouring powder all over him.

In an interview with Luv FM's Elton John Brobbey, Sir John said his victory, (if it is in fact corroborated by the Electoral Commission) is recognition of his hard work and talent.

According to him, his election into the high office is “victory for the party” and “victory for hard work”.

He pledged to work hard to bring the party back into power, declaring “work begins this evening”.

Sir John beat incumbent Nana Ohene Ntow, Nkrabeah Effah-Dartey, Obeng Busia and Yaw Buabeng Asamoah to the slot.

The results are however provisional
