35-year old unemployed jailed for stealing
January 26, 2010
Kumasi, Jan. 26, GNA - A 35-year old unemployed has been sentenced to six months imprisonment in hard labour by the Ash-Town District Court for stealing a bag of garden eggs.

Kwabena Kontoh admitted the offence and pleaded for leniency.

Police Inspector Matilda Okutu told the court presided over by Mr S.K. Achina that the convict lived at Bantama, Kumasi, while the complainant is a vegetable farmer at Nyankyerenease near Kumasi.

The farmer, Augustine Kwasi Yeboah, had harvested and packed his garden eggs into sacks ready for transportation to the market.

He, however, detected that one of the sacks was missing and upon a tip-off, traced it to the Sofoline Market, where he saw Kontoh busily bargaining the price with a market woman.

She said with the help of some people, the convict was arrested and handed over to the Suntreso police.
