Mampong (Ash), Jan 22, GNA - A 41-year-old driver, Peter Sarpong, has been arrested by the Asante-Mampong police for knocking down and killing a pedestrian at Nintin, near Mampong
on January 17.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Benjamin Kwadwo Asante, Asante-Mampong Commander of the Motor Traffic Transport Unit (MTTU), told the Ghana News Agency that the deceased Kwaku Wiredu, 26, was crossing the road, when the suspect, hit and killed him.
The accident angered people in the community who blocked the Mampong/Kumasi road and vandalized the car and the arrival of the police prevented the mob from setting the vehicle ablaze.
