Agona Swedru, Jan. 9, GNA - The Chiefs and people of Gomoa Ngyiresi in the Central Region have raised an amount of GH¢5,000.00 for the construction of two modern toilet facilities at the cost of GH¢50,000.

Citizens residing in the area are paying development levy of two Ghana Cedis while non residents were contributing five Ghana Cedis to support the project.

Mr Francis Odoom, General Secretary of the Gomoa Ngyiresi Youth Association, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency at Agona Swedru, said the people would organize fund raising harvests and solicit funds from donors to complete the project.

He appealed to the Gomoa East District Assembly and Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to assist the community.

Mr Odoom said the lack of toilet facilities made the people to use abandoned toilets constructed over 30 years ago or the bush as alternatives.

He appealed to the government to construct the Kyire-Nkwanta-Gomoa Ngyiresi-Gomoa Brofo road, adding that its bad condition had compelled drivers to charge exorbitant fares.
