Accra, Dec. 21, GNA - Mr. Obeng Gyan Busia, aspiring General Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Monday promised to strengthen the party's internal communication structure if given the mandate.

He said the Communication Department of the party would be well-resourced for effective dissemination of the party's position on issues.

"A Concerns Desk would be established at the constituency, regional and national levels to cater for members concern. This would help address the many avoidable disputes within the party".

"It is my desire as a General Secretary of the party to embark on an aggressive membership drive that would enable activists, supporters and sympathizers to feel belonging to the party," Mr. Busia said when launching his campaign in Accra.

He pledged to evolve strategies and mechanisms for every member to contribute raising funds to support the party's activities to relieve the burden from the only few members who had shouldered its financial aspects.

Mr. Busia said former President John Agyekum Kufuor was a living testimony of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition as a pro-poor government and should be given the mandate in 2012.

Campaigning to be elected the next General Secretary of the party, he said "It is only a person who combines courage, discipline and know-how that can lead us to the promise land of economic prosperity".

"Let me assure you, you can trust Obeng Busia for possessing such qualities to deliver under the circumstances and together knit the party for a common purpose," he added.

Dr. Baffour Adjei Barwuah, former Ghana's Ambassador to Japan, endorsed the aspirant as the right person to lead the party to victory in 2012.

He called for unity within the party, saying, "this is the time to sing the same song".
