Residents of Rex Lawson Street in the Borokiri area of Port Harcourt have called on the Rivers State government as well as companies to help sustain the peace in Borokiri through the sponsorship of the Rex Lawson Street Peace Concert.

Speaking at the end of the 2009 edition of the concert, held on December 22, 2009 in Borokiri, the residents said making the peace concert an annual event would help to unite youths in the area.

According to Mr. Greg Paul, “making this peace concert an annual event will help solidify the peace that has returned to the Niger Delta region. All of us know that Rex Lawson Street in Borokiri was one of the hottest spots during the crisis in Port Harcourt”.

Another resident, Mr. Amaewhule Nsirim said it would be good if companies operating in Borokiri would partner with the Sol Rekodz Entertainment, organizers of the peace concert to make it an annual event.

He expressed the hope that if well sponsored, the Rex Lawson Street Peace Concert would be an avenue to discover hidden talents in arts and music.

The 2009 Rex Lawson Street Concert was facilitated by Mr. Prince Godfrey, Mr. Victor Adokiye Bobmanuel, Miss Henrietta Bimbo Ifuku and Mr. Anayo Onukwugha.#
