Ghana marks World Aviation Day

Accra, Dec. 16, GNA - Felvic Aviation Events, an aviation holding company, on Wednesday, used the national observation of World Aviation Day, to salute pioneers and partners in the aviation industry.

The day celebrated on December 17 each year, is meant to acknowledge the role and contribution of the aviation industry globally.

A statement signed by Prince Ekow Freeman, Chairman of the Project Committee of Felvic Aviation Events in Accra, said: "Pioneers of the Ghanaian industry and their stakeholders pride themselves in the enviable safety aviation records and the tremendous transformation and achievements the industry has chucked.

"It is gratifying therefore, to note that some of these pioneers have lived to see the 106th celebration of this special day."

He noted that the objective of this year's celebration is to appreciate the contributions of the industry veterans.

The event is being organised in collaboration with the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority. Series of activities have been lined up to mark the day dubbed: "Wright Brothers Day."

The activities include a special aviation documentary, fundraising, lectures, fun games and industrial fair.

There would also be an event to search for an Aviation Ambassador to promote the industry, inauguration of aviation social clubs in schools, aviation quiz contest and thanksgiving service.

Mokase Restaurant in Accra, is the major sponsor for the activities.

The Wright brothers comprising Oville and Wilbur are acclaimed globally as the pioneers of the aviation industry.

Exactly 106 years ago, Oville powered the first ever flight.
